Most recent issue: October 2006
This is the most widely read monthly newsletter
in the swine industry.
This issue focuses on: Reducing pre-weaning mortality in piglets
Pre-weaning mortality of piglets is a major loss to the industry, and, including stillborn piglets, up to 20% of piglets or more do not survive to weaning. For a breeding herd of 500 sows, this represents an annual loss of at least 2,500 piglets. Thus, any action that reduces the number of stillborn piglets and post-natal mortality has considerable biological and economic advantages for the whole herd.
