Overcoming the energy feed crisis in the pig industry
[Lexington, Kentucky] — The challenges facing the future of pig production are assailed on one side by rising costs and on the other by environmental concerns. Will an increase in feed costs result in a decline in pig meat production at a time when the world needs more protein? Alltech’s 23rd International Feed Industry Symposium will address these concerns during an annual three-day event in Lexington, Kentucky, USA, from May 21-23, 2007. The Symposium provides an opportunity for international pig experts to discuss these impending issues and propose the most viable solutions that will advance animal feeding programs and ultimately human health.
During the Symposium, Alltech’s pig session will look at the various concerns listed below:

“Alltech’s Symposium will allow industry experts to come together to explore and present the latest research on areas such as strategies to enhance productivity whilst reducing costs, maximising fertility in sows and boars, controlling nitrogen and phosphorous excretion and existing diet formulations with Allzyme®SSF, as well as managing enteric diseases through the use of fibrous distillers dried grains (DDGS),” said Dr. Jules Taylor-Pickard, Alltech’s European Technical Team Manager.
Species sessions will also be held in the areas of dairy, beef, poultry, equine, pet, aqua, and food quality and legislation.
